Temazcal Preparation Instructions
Clothing & Etiquette
Clothing
-For the ceremony before the temazcal, wear light colors, preferably white.
-To enter the temazcal, we recommend women to wear a swimsuit and a sarong and men to wear shorts and a t-shirt.
-Flip flops, towel and a change of clothes.
-Water and a set of clean clothes to change when finishing the ceremony.
Etiquette
-Please plan on arriving 30min earlier for the scheduled ceremony so we can start on time
-Upon arrival and while everybody are settling in participants will be welcome and smudged.
-We will start gathering in a circle, opening the ceremony with a blessing and then introducing each other and also go over some more information and instructions in preparation for the ceremony
-After that, we will gather around the fire next to the temazcal area and permission will be asked to the directions.
-Following this, we will proceed to enter the temazcal.
-Once the ceremony is over (about 2 hours) participants will have the opportunity to ground, rinse, change clothing and refresh with food, snacks and beverages.
-To finish we gather around the circle and go over experiences, questions and announcements.
-To finalize we will close the ceremony with a blessing.
Instrucciones de Preparacion para el Temazcal
Vestimenta
- Para la ceremonia previa al temazcal, use colores claros, preferiblemente blanco.
- Para entrar al temazcal, recomendamos que las mujeres usen traje de baño y pareo, y los hombres, shorts y camiseta.
- Chanclas, toalla y un cambio de ropa.
- Agua y ropa limpia para cambiarse al terminar la ceremonia.
Etiqueta
- Por favor, lleguen 30 minutos antes de la ceremonia programada para que podamos comenzar a tiempo.
- Al llegar, mientras todos se acomodan, se les dará la bienvenida y se les aplicará el sahumerio.
- Nos reuniremos en círculo, iniciando la ceremonia con una bendición y luego nos presentaremos y repasaremos información e instrucciones adicionales para la
- Después, nos reuniremos alrededor de la fogata junto al área del temazcal y se pedirá permiso para seguir las indicaciones.
- Después, procederemos a entrar al temazcal. Al finalizar la ceremonia (aproximadamente 2 horas), los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de enjuagarse, cambiarse de ropa y refrescarse con comida, refrigerios y bebidas.
Luego, nos reuniremos en círculo y repasaremos experiencias, preguntas y anuncios.
Para finalizar, cerraremos la ceremonia con una bendición.
